Introduction
To control and coordinate stockpile activities to ensure that material is correctly stockpiled, identified, sampled, measured and loaded according to the approved material grades and operational requirements. The Stockpile Controller is responsible for ensuring that trucks are directed to the correct stockpile, material is allocated to the correct grade, truck movements are safely controlled, and accurate communication is maintained between the stockpile, Weighbridge, Survey, Sampling, Loading and Control Room teams. The position is critical in maintaining stockpile integrity and preventing the contamination, misallocation or incorrect loading of material.
Job description

Performance in this position will be measured against:
  • Correct stockpiling of material according to grade.
  • Prevention of grade contamination.
  • Correct allocation of trucks to stockpiles.
  • Accurate communication of stockpile quantities.
  • Effective coordination with Survey and Sampling teams.
  • Effective coordination with the Weighbridge.
  • Safe and efficient control of stockpile traffic.
  • Accurate material and stockpile identification.
  • Timely reporting of deviations and incidents.
  • Effective management of stockpile congestion.
  • Compliance with Logistics, Mining and Safety procedures.
  • Accurate and effective shift handovers.

Minimum requirements

Education
  • Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
  • Relevant logistics, transport, mining or operations qualification will be advantageous.
Skills and Competencies
  • Computer literacy.
  • Good numerical and record-keeping skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of material grades and stockpile segregation.
  • Ability to control truck movements.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good coordination and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively via radio.
  • Strong safety awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple operational teams.
