Introduction
The Social Performance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the Social Investment portfolio and strategies that advance the company's social impact and community engagement efforts. This role will drive social and community programs aligned with the company's sustainable development goals, regulatory requirements, and broader corporate objectives. The individual will work to build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including communities, government agencies, NGOs, and industry bodies, to enhance the company’s social license to operate and ensure positive impacts in the communities surrounding mining operations. The position reports to the Exec: HC & Sustainability and works very close with the Office of the Executive Chairperson.
Job description

·       Provide strategic growth and direction. Drive the Social Performance and Corporate Social Investment strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and community needs

·       Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of social performance projects whilst ensuring alignment with organisation’s principles, timelines, within budget, and against our quality standards.

·       Establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with community leaders, NGOs, Government (local, provincial and national) authorities, and other stakeholders.

·       Identify and assess social risks and opportunities due to mine activities, advising management on the potential social impacts of company operations and strategies for mitigation or enhancement.

·       Act as the company’s representative in community engagements, public forums, and industry events to communicate the company’s social performance initiatives.

·        Collaborate closely with internal teams, such as Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), Legal, and Corporate Affairs, to ensure integrated stakeholder engagement and risk management. SLP consultations & implementation inclusive of mine community development through LED, HRD, Inclusive procurement etc. as per Mining charter for maintaining Social License to Operate.

·       Coordination of corporate performance reporting and performance information management

·       Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks for social performance and CSI initiatives to measure impact, identify best practices, and ensure continuous improvement.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION)

 

·      Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences; Development Studies; Public Relations or any relevant NQF 7- 8 

 

·  5 - 8 years of experience in Stakeholder Engagement Management, Community Relations & Local Governance

 

·        5 or more years’ experience in project management

 

·        Mining Industry experience will be advantageous

 

·        Driver’s licence is essential.
