Introduction
PURPOSE AND ROLE IN THE BUSINESS: The Maximo Specialist is responsible for leveraging IBM Maximo Asset Management to optimize business processes, ensure data integrity, and facilitate seamless integration with external systems such as SAGE. This role requires expertise in configuration, data management, reporting, and process customization to meet organizational needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Management & Migration:

  •         Lead master data migration processes and establish standardized development practices.
  •         Serve as a mass upload expert, utilizing tools like MX Loader for efficient data uploads into Maximo.
  •         Download XML files from Maximo for SAGE interface validation and troubleshooting.
  •         Prepare, test, and refine loading and mapping files for Work Management data imports.

Maximo Configuration & Customization:

  •       Customize Maximo processes to align with specific business requirements and workflows.
  •         Add specific default loadings, such as drop-down menus, to enhance usability and standardization.
  •         Develop and maintain an asset register in Maximo, componentized per item, including preventative maintenance and roll-up reporting on the Fixed Asset Register (FAR).
  •        Program Preventative Maintenance schedules per part/item to ensure operational efficiency.

Reporting & Analytics:

  •        Create and customize reports within Maximo, including advanced BIRT Report Development for business intelligence needs.
  •         Develop SCADA interface reports to support operational monitoring and decision-making.
  •       Master SQL queries within Maximo to extract, analyse, and manipulate data for reporting purposes.

Integration & Reconciliation:

  •       Manage integration between Maximo and SAGE, ensuring accurate data flow and consistency.
  •        Reconcile inventory balances between Maximo and SAGE systems, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  •         Run monthly scripts to compare inventory movements in Maximo versus SAGE, providing detailed variance reports.
  •         Collaborate with SAGE consultants to facilitate smooth data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.

Process Development & Testing:

  • Design and document data load processes for Work Management, including:
  •        Maximo configuration adjustments.
  •        Data transformation scripting for compatibility and accuracy.
  •        Comprehensive process documentation for repeatability and training.
  •        Load received data into testing environments, troubleshoot issues, and resolve loading errors.
  •        Develop and execute test scripts for Maximo unit testing to ensure system reliability and performance.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  •        Liaise with SAGE consultants and internal stakeholders to align system functionality with business objectives.
  •       Provide technical expertise and recommendations to improve Maximo usability and integration efficiency.
 

Minimum requirements

Minimum Requirements (Education & Experience)

  •        National Senior Certificate (Matric)
  •        BTech Degree or BCom in Business Informatics
  •        BSc in Computer Science
  •     Programming experience
  •        Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
