Kalagadi Manganese Mine is situated in the town of Hotazel 70km from Kuruman, Northern Cape Province.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for managing and directing the various activities within a specified section of the mine. Ensures specified targets are met and allocated resources are used effectively. Select and appoint personnel and exercises safety control measures.
Job description
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintaining Health and Safety by ensuring that standards are adhered to and improved upon in the section.
- Manage the operation of the section by allocating work plans to Shift Supervisors.
- Establish production controls to ensure optimum utilization of production plans.
- Compile production reports.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12.
- Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency.
- Blasting Certificate.
- A minimum of 10 - 15 years' experience in the mining industry, with a minimum of 5 years at mine overseer level.
- Disciplined and have a high moral attitude.
- Trackless Mining Experience (Bord & Pillar).
- Knowledge of Trackless Mobile Machinery.
- Knowledge of factors that drive production output.
- Production planning.
- Cycle mining.
- General water and air reticulation network.
- Roadway maintenance philosophy.
- Labour control and management.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience related to underground mining.
- Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures for underground mining.
- Excellent organisation skills and written communication skills.
- Strong Leadership and Management Ability.
- Ability to work in a multinational/multicultural environment.
- Medically fit for duty.

- Computer literacy and system knowledge: MS Office (Basic)
- SHERQ: Working knowledge and skills of SHERQ policies, practices and procedures.
